Young Shouts
Emanuele Marsico - trumpet, voice
Attilio Sepe - sax alto
Silvia Bolognesi - double bass, compositions
Sergio Bolognesi - drums
Sammy Stein, per The Free Jazz Collective scrive di loro: "The instrumentation as well as the frequent moments of collective improvisation, display characteristics of a classic modern jazz quartet. The playing is superb and the overall essence of this album is four musicians, thoroughly enjoying themselves yet with a mind to what the listener is hearing. A gem in every sense."
The repertoire is inspired by African America folk songs. The “Suite for Bessie Jones” written specifically for this group, comes from the lyrics of some songs made famous by the singer recorded by Alan Lomax. The instrumentation as well as the frequent moments of collective improvisation, display characteristics of a classic modern jazz quartet.
“aLive Shouts” has been released in August 2019, tight away it’s one of the "Best Jazz on Bandcamp: August 2019".
"…Every note and every breath is thick with the blues…the genuineness of their spirit makes this recording so powerful—and so much fun…" (Tim Ries).
Sammy Stein for Free Jazz Blog "The playing is superb and the overall essence of this album is four musicians, thoroughly enjoying themselves yet with a mind to what the listener is hearing. A gem in every sense".
Ian Patterson for All About Jazz "aLive Shouts is a gutsy ode to an African American singer of enduring significance. Silvia Bolognesi's Young Shouts honor Bessie Jones not merely by borrowing her lyrics, but by playing with the sort of passion and sincerity that was the singer's musical currency".
Neri Pollastri for All Bout Jazz (Live at Pinocchio Jazz club in Florence ) "a great concert, in perfect balance between tradition and innovation (…) The audience has been captured by the enhtusiasm of the band thanks to the music with a strong communicative impact, great energy and remarkable personality".

Cristiano Arcelli – soprano sax
Rossano Emili – baritone sax, clarinet
Pasquale Mirra - vibes
Silvia Bolognesi– double bass
Andrea Melani – drums
